KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 12 (Bernama) -- The Job Guarantee Programme implemented by the Pahang Government since 2018 has so far produced 6,273 alumni, with some of them earning a monthly income of up to RM25,000, according to Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.
He said the programme has also received RM 62.16 million in sponsorships to date, with Yayasan Pahang as the main sponsor, followed by the Institute of Malaysian Plantations and Commodities (IMPAC), Yayasan Peneraju, the Pahang Veterinary Services Department, SD Guthrie Bhd, and industry players.
"The Job Guarantee Programme is one of the programmes that has proven the efforts taken by the Pahang Government to takcle unemployment issues among youths in Pahang. It is effective and has helped reduce the state's unemployment rate.
"This programme has also provided opportunities to the target groups, namely youth, the underprivileged, Orang Asli and vulnerable groups who were born in Pahang or residing in Pahang," he said when speaking at the at the Empowering De' Tea-Logue event, which celebrated the success of the Job Guarantee Programme alumni in Shah Alam, Selangor, recently.
At the ceremony, a Collaboration Agreement was also signed between YP Advanced Skills and Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd, while a Memorandum of Understanding (MoA) was signed between YP Advanced Skills and IMPAC.
Wan Rosdy, who is also Yayasan Pahang Board chairman, said the state government will fully support Yayasan Pahang and YP Advanced Skills in their efforts to supply and develop skilled manpower, particularly in Pahang and Malaysia in general.
"Congratulations and well done to Yayasan Pahang for successfully realising my hope to make YP Advanced Skills an employment agency in Pahang with the creation of the Get Job Portal, which functions as a central hub that enables YP Advanced Skills has become a leading and trusted employment platform in the state.
"Hopefully YP Advanced Skills will continue to produce quality and highly skilled talents thus helping the state to achieve encouraging Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth in the years to come," he said.
He said the state government had also allocated RM17.5 million to create job opportunities, with RM12.5 million of the amount allocated for the Job Guarantee Programme through Yayasan Pahang.
The Job Guarantee Programme offers seven learning sectors, namely hospitality and services; oil, gas and energy; transport and logistics; information technology and digital; construction and engineering; tourism and engineering; and the International Career Management Trainee Programme.
It also received cooperation from industry partners such as East Academy, Barba Venture Sdn Bhd, Westport Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Tanjung Pelepas Port Sdn Bhd, FGV Holdings Bhd, MUIP Hotel Sdn Bhd, Time Touch Marine and TWI Technology (S.E.Asia) Sdn Bhd.
