KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 16 (Bernama) -- In response to the recent floods, KFC Malaysia, through its philanthropic initiative Add Hope Malaysia, has pledged RM100,000 to support affected communities nationwide.
QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd (QSR Brands), operator of KFC Malaysia, in a statement said the initiative would provide immediate food relief to ensure essential meals reach those most vulnerable during this critical time.
It said by mobilising resources and coordinating efforts with the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) and the Malaysian Red Crescent, more than 6,000 KFC meals would be delivered to flood victims at their homes and flood relief centres.
"NADMA plays a crucial role in coordinating disaster response efforts across Malaysia, ensuring that resources are efficiently allocated and that affected communities receive timely assistance.
"The Malaysian Red Crescent supports these efforts by providing on-the-ground aid, including medical services, emergency shelter, and essential supplies to those in need," read the statement.
QSR Brands chief executive officer and managing director Nehchal Khanna, in the same statement, said the Add Hope initiative would prioritise the hardest-hit regions, particularly in Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, and Johor.
"We believe that during times of crisis, it is our responsibility to stand in solidarity with those suffering. Our contribution of RM100,000 in meal aid is a step towards alleviating the hardships faced by flood victims," he said.
Last Friday, QSR Brands chief communications officer Anis Yusof presented the mock cheque to NADMA deputy director-general Hussain Moh along with Malaysian Red Crescent deputy secretary-general Datuk Danial Iskandar Abdul Rahman.
Speaking at the event, Anis said that Add Hope Malaysia remained steadfast in supporting the communities in need and vowed to continue its efforts to assist those impacted by natural disasters throughout Malaysia, reinforcing its commitment to help rebuild lives and provide hope in times of adversity.
"We look forward to future collaborations with NADMA and the Malaysian Red Crescent to enhance our collective impact and ensure that aid reaches those who need it most," she said.
