PUTRAJAYA, Dec 31 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Foreign Ministry has clarified that two Malaysian nationals were involved in the bus accident near Lake Åsvatnet, Norway, on Dec 26.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry said both individuals sustained minor injuries and were categorised as “non-injury” cases by Norwegian authorities. They remain in good health.
“They have since resumed their journey in Norway without further complications,” the Ministry added.
The Ministry also clarified that an initial report indicating four Malaysians were involved in the accident was a misunderstanding, as two other Malaysians nationals were staying at the same hotel but were not part of the incident.
The Ministry, on behalf of the Government of Malaysia, also expressed its deepest gratitude to the local authorities in Norway for their prompt and invaluable assistance to the Malaysian passengers involved, the statement added.
It emphasised that the safety and well-being of Malaysians abroad remain a top priority for the Ministry.
It was reported that the bus was carrying 58 passengers, including nationals from China, Singapore, India, the Netherlands, Malaysia, South Sudan, France, and Ukraine, when the accident occurred at 1.30 pm local time on Dec 26 due to severe weather conditions, causing it to lose control.
