RAMALLAH, Dec 31 (Bernama-WAFA) -- Over 45,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s ongoing aggression on Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS).
Palestine News and Info Agency (WAFA) reported the PCBS said with 98 percent of the casualties in the Gaza Strip, it marks the highest death toll in the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict.
“The population of the Gaza Strip has declined by 6 percent by the end of 2024.”
PCBS President, Ola Awad in presenting a brief on the status of the Palestinian people stated that the Gaza Strip has suffered catastrophic human and material losses, with entire neighbourhoods destroyed, families erased from civil records, and vital infrastructure reduced to rubble.
The Gaza economy has also collapsed, with unemployment soaring to 80 percent and its contribution to the overall Palestinian economy dropping to less than 5 percent from about 17 percent before October 7th, 2023, said PCBS.
