NEW DELHI, Jan 1 (Bernama) -- India and Pakistan on Wednesday exchanged their annual list of nuclear assets and prisoners in each other's custody.

The exchange of nuclear lists was the 34th such exercise between the two countries since 1992.

The lists of nuclear installations and facilities, covered under a bilateral agreement on the prohibition of attack against these facilities, were exchanged through diplomatic channels, simultaneously at New Delhi and Islamabad, India's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement Wednesday.

India and Pakistan similarly exchanged the lists of civilian prisoners and fishermen in each other's custody.

India has shared the names of 381 civilian prisoners and 81 fishermen in its custody, who are Pakistani or are believed-to-be-Pakistani, while Pakistan has shared the names of 49 civilian prisoners and 217 fishermen in its custody, who are Indian or are believed-to-be-Indian.

Under a 2008 bilateral agreement on consular access to prisoners, the two countries exchange such lists on the first day of January and July.
