NEW YORK, Jan 6 (Bernama-WAFA) -- Pakistan on Sunday urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to ensure an immediate and unconditional ceasefire to halt the bloodshed and destruction in Gaza, Palestine News and Info Agency (WAFA) reported.
Ambassador Asim Iftikhar, Alternate Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN, stated in a press release that the international community must unite in addressing the Palestinian issue and create safe humanitarian corridors to allow access to life-saving care, stressing that reconstruction efforts must also prioritise rebuilding Gaza’s shattered healthcare system.
Pakistan also reiterated its call for the United Nations to grant Palestine full membership as a step toward achieving a two-state solution.
"Palestine must be recognised as a full member of the United Nations. This will not just be a symbolic gesture - it is a moral imperative to secure the irreversibility of the two-state solution."
