PUTRAJAYA, Jan 7 (Bernama) -- The staff of the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) and its agencies need to play a role as ambassadors, promoting the ministry’s services as well as disseminating accurate information to the public.
Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong said KESUMA staff should always be willing to lend a hand in addressing problems faced by the public including relaying information about specific cases to the relevant departments.
“So, we as KESUMA ambassadors, promote services, help to elevate the ministry’s name, and provide information (to the public) although it is not our jurisdiction, not in our department or agency.
“Imagine 15,000 KESUMA staff out there providing explanation, enlightenment…I am confident that by the end of this year, KESUMA will become the best and most outstanding ministry," he said during the KESUMA New Year 2025 message here today.
Also present at the event were Human Resources deputy minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad and secretary-general Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof.
Meanwhile, looking ahead, Sim said KESUMA is committed to strengthening human capital development, protecting workers' rights, and enhancing the competitiveness of the national workforce in line with the aspirations of the MADANI Economy framework.
He said that among the initiatives planned by the ministry is to provide various training programmes and courses to enhance workers' skills to be more competitive.
“These efforts are being planned in line with industry needs, ensuring Malaysian workers are ready to face the dynamic global economic challenges,” he also said.
He added that the ministry will continue to implement the National Human Resources Policy, including implementing policies that support the development of a high-quality workforce and expanding job opportunities for all segments of society. That policy, he said, will become the cornerstone of KESUMA's efforts to create a competent, resilient and competitive workforce, in line with the MADANI Economy goals.
