KUALA TERENGGANU, Jan 10 (Bernama) -- The Terengganu Hockey Team (THT) extended their winning streak in the Malaysia Hockey League (MHL) to three games after beating UiTM HA-KPT 3-1 at their home ground, Buruk Hockey Stadium this afternoon.
The home team had to wait till the second quarter to open accounts, with Muhammad Arif Syafie Ishak converting a penalty corner in the 18th minute.
Missed chances by both teams, THT in the 25th minute, and the visitors in the 29th were both thwarted by their rivals but then the home team managed to strike again through a field goal by Mohamad Akhimullah Anuar Esook, and then Mohd Fitri’s goal to put THT firmly in the lead with 3-0 four minutes later.
UiTM HA-KPT did not give up and continued to try to score, and finally were rewarded with their consolation goal by Muhammad Idris Samad in the 51st minute.
THT coach Mohd Harfizi Baharom shared after the match that he made some tactical changes in the second quarter that brought the team their victory.
“I admit that the players found it hard to score in the first quarter as the opponents were defending,” he said.
With today’s win, THT remains on top of the league with nine points.
