SEREMBAN, Jan 11 (Bernama) -- The victory over Sri Pahang FC in the Super League action at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Paroi last night is seen as building up the confidence of Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) players to face the next match.

Therefore, NSFC head coach K Nanthakumar hopes that his squad will continue to maintain the winning momentum thus collecting more points and improving their position in the league.

"I am happy and praise the players, they perserved despite going on for a long time without winning and tonight (last night) they defeated Sri Pahang FC, who are a good team.

"Early in the game, there was an own goal error by Aliyu Audu Abu Bakar, but we recovered, I told them, we have to win, we have to fight, so getting two goals really gave us an advantage and boost, they worked until the last minute," he told reporters after the match last night.

In the match, NSFC ended their home winless streak after beating the Elephants  2-1 thanks to goals from imported players Hein Htet Aung in the 44th minute and Selvan Anbualagan in the 59th minute.

Meanwhile, Sri Pahang FC coach Fandi Ahmad admitted that his team lacked cooperation and did not control the ball well, so they had to accept defeat at the hands of NSFC despite leading early in the game.

"They were too slow, we could not dominate the ball and we did not have the will, we could not keep and throw the ball a lot, the players also lacked performance.. the chance to win was there, but today was not our day, it was NSFC's right.

"NSFC's desire to win is very high, from the beginning they have shown the will to win and they played better," he said, adding that they would do their best in the upcoming match.

NSFC is currently 12th in the league with nine points while Sri Pahang FC is in 10th position with 15 points.
