KANGAR, Jan 15 (Bernama) -- A total of 600 people in Perlis have benefitted from the Ihsan MADANI contribution, amounting to RM120,000.
The Prime Minister’s political secretary Datuk Azman Abidin said the contribution, coordinated by the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) under the Prime Minister’s Office, was given to selected individuals in the Kangar, Arau and Padang Besar parliamentary constituencies.
“Today, I am in Perlis, started in the Arau constituency this morning at UniMAP (Universiti Malaysia Perlis), then I went to Padang Besar and later on to Kangar.
“The total number of recipients is 600 people. Perlis has three constituencies, and we allocated 200 recipients for each constituency,” he told reporters after presenting the contributions to recipients from the Kangar constituency on behalf of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, here today.
Azman said each of the recipients received a one-off cash contribution through the Ihsan MADANI contribution.
He said the Ihsan MADANI contribution is part of a nationwide tour conducted by the Prime Minister’s Office to reach out to the people across the country, to assess their needs and challenges in their respective parliamentary areas while also providing assistance to those in need.
“Whether the constituency is represented by a government or opposition Member of Parliament, we will visit all constituencies. We will continue doing this until the next election, as we will divide the areas with the other political secretaries to complete the tour.
“This is actually the Prime Minister’s tour. Whenever he (the Prime Minister) can go, he will. If he can’t go, the political secretaries will go on his behalf, as there need to be a representative from the Prime Minister’s Office to understand the issues within these constituencies,” he said.
