NEW DELHI, Jan 30 (Bernama) -- Malaysia showcased its investment opportunities at a business conference in the eastern Indian state of Odisha.

The "Make in Odisha Conclave 2025", held in Bhubaneswar on January 28-29, attracted both domestic and foreign participants.

Malaysia, a partner country to the event, highlighted its key attractions as a Southeast Asian business hub.

"We are consistently amongst the most business-friendly nations globally, offering a strategic location, world-class infrastructure, and a skilled, multilingual workforce," Malaysian High Commissioner to India Datuk Muzafar Shah Mustafa told the conference.

Highlighting the close ties between Malaysia and India, the high commissioner noted that bilateral trade increased by 10.4 per cent in 2024 to reach US$18.25 billion.

"Our bilateral trade has been on an upward trajectory, reflecting the dynamism and complementarity of our economies," he said.

He added that Malaysia sees tremendous potential for collaboration with Odisha in various sectors.

"We can explore partnerships in areas such as manufacturing, renewable energy, petrochemicals, digital technology, and tourism, particularly leveraging Odisha's strategic coastal location and its potential as a maritime hub," Muzafar said.

The high commissioner called on state chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi and engaged with government officials, business leaders, and trade associations.
