ALOR SETAR GETS NEW MAYOR

ALOR SETAR, Feb 2 (Bernama) -- Former Kuala Muda District Officer Datuk Abdul Gafar Yahya has been appointed as the eighth Mayor of Alor Setar, effective today.

Abdul Gafar, 54, replaces Datuk Mohd Yusri Md Daud, who retired on January 30.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Meeting Hall of UTC here.
