MERSING, Feb 3 (Bernama) -- The public is urged to stay vigilant and heed the red flag warning signs along the shores of Pantai Air Papan here, as the area remains in the Northeast Monsoon (MTL) phase.
District Civil Defence Force (APM) officer Lt M (PA) Muhamad Syafiq Mohamad Sabri said that although the weather is clear, strong winds and rough seas pose risks to beach and water-related activities.
“Visitors must comply with the red flag warning, which prohibits swimming, and avoid approaching the shoreline to prevent any unwanted incidents.
“At the same time, we advise them to stay updated on the weather forecast and warnings issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia),” he told Bernama today.
A check by Bernama found that the beach, popular among locals, was bustling with visitors during the school holidays and the recent Chinese New Year public holidays.
