WASHINGTON, Feb 5 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- The US Senate on Tuesday confirmed Pam Bondi as the new US Attorney General and the head of the US Department of Justice, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
Bondi's nomination was confirmed with 54 votes in favour and 46 against.
US President Donald Trump nominated Bondi in late 2024 after former congressman Matt Gaetz decided to withdraw his name from consideration for the job because of allegations that he had engaged in sexual misconduct and drug use.
Bondi served as Florida attorney general from 2011 to 2019. In 2020, she was one of Trump's defence lawyers during his first impeachment trial.
