MOSCOW, Feb 9 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held in Kosovo on Sunday to elect the 120 lawmakers for the next four-year-term, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti's ruling Self-Determination Movement (LVV) is leading the polls, followed by the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), which are also the three most-represented parties in the current edition of the parliament. Twenty seats are reserved for national minority parties, with the Serb List being the dominant one.
Given Kosovo's strained relations with Serbia, which still has not recognised its self-proclaimed independence, exacerbated by the semi-permanent conflicts between the country's Albanian majority and Serbian minority, tensions could flare any time during the election process.
