TERENGGANU KPDN SEIZES OVER 30,000 LITRES OF DIESEL OVER ILLEGAL TRANSFER

KUALA TERENGGANU, Feb 10 (Bernama) -- The Terengganu branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) seized a tanker lorry and five skid tanks, containing 32,760 litres of diesel, at a storage facility in the Gong Badak Industrial Estate, Kuala Nerus, yesterday.

Its director Saharuddin Mohd Kia said that the seizure was carried out at 12.30 pm after authorities discovered diesel transfer activities being conducted without the supply controller’s permission.

“A week-long intelligence operation found that the syndicate used a tanker bearing the logo and words ‘National Fishermen’s Association’ on its body, along with ‘Fishermen’s Subsidised Diesel’ on the back of the lorry to evade detection.

“During the raid, approximately 16,000 litres of diesel were being transferred from the tanker lorry to the skid tanks, using rubber pipes,” he said in a statement today.

He added that inspections found that the tanker lorry lacked a valid licence, permit, or letter of approval from the supply controller to handle controlled goods, namely diesel.

“The total value of the seized items is estimated at RM371,069.86. Meanwhile, a local man in his 60s and a Myanmar national have been detained to assist in the investigation,” he said.

Saharuddin added that an investigation paper has been opened, and further inquiries are ongoing, under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
