TEHRAN, Feb 11 (Bernama-IRNA) – The forced displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip constitutes an act of ethnic cleansing and is completely unacceptable, said Malaysia’s Foreign Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, during a phone call with his Iranian counterpart, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, on Monday.
According to IRNA, as part of Iran’s consultations with various countries and international organisations regarding developments in Gaza – particularly concerns over the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians – Araghchi contacted Malaysia’s Foreign Minister via telephone on Monday.
The Iranian news agency further reported that Araghchi commended Malaysia’s steadfast support for the resilient Palestinian people, especially during the 16-month-long "genocidal war" waged by the Zionist entity.
Describing the forced displacement of Gaza’s residents as part of a colonial project aimed at erasing Palestine, he condemned the move and called for a firm and united stance from major and influential Islamic nations against this dangerous scheme.
Araghchi also briefed his Malaysian counterpart on his discussions with the United Nations Secretary-General and several Islamic and Arab nations regarding efforts to convene an emergency meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), urging Malaysia to support the initiative.
“Hassan also welcomed Iran’s proposal to hold an extraordinary OIC meeting and affirmed Malaysia’s commitment to this initiative,” Araghchi stated.
The Iranian Foreign Minister further expressed his satisfaction with the strengthening of ties between Tehran and Kuala Lumpur, viewing Hassan’s upcoming visit to Iran as a valuable opportunity to engage in discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
