KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 15 (Bernama) -- Kuala Lumpur Rangers FC (KL Rangers) is capable of competing against other teams as they make their debut at the National Women’s League (LWN) 2025.

KL Rangers patron Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said the team’s confidence is buoyed by finishing runners-up of the Kuala Lumpur Women’s Super League 2024 and being part of the Federal Territories’ team that made it to the semifinals of the 2024 Malaysia Games in Sarawak.

“What’s important is we want to survive and not be eliminated. Also, we will learn the strategy (of playing in the LWN) as we have been only competing in a small pond previously.

“Now we’re in the big pool and we need to look and adjust from there about the budget and player preparation,” he told reporters at the launch of the KL Rangers’ jersey here today.

The Setiawangsa MP added that the men’s squad intends to compete for the first time in the Malaysian A2 Amateur League next season and that the women’s team was eyeing the Kuala Lumpur Sports Arena as their official grounds as the venue was in his parliamentary constituency.

On the rebranding of the Setiawangsa Rangers to KL Rangers, he said it was done to expand their reach and to ensure the team was better known in the capital city.
