KOTA BHARU, Feb 19 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has arrested four men, including a foreign national, for allegedly misappropriating over 15,000 litres of diesel valued at nearly RM150,000 in Kampung Pasir Era, Kuala Nal, Kuala Krai, on Monday.
State KPDN director Azman Ismail said the raid, conducted in collaboration with the Region 3 Marine Police Force in Pengkalan Kubor, uncovered a diesel misappropriation operation believed to be supplying fuel for an illegal iron ore mine.
"Authorities found a tanker lorry, rubber hoses, and transaction documents. When the raid was carried out, the tanker lorry’s engine was still running, with a rubber hose connected to a ‘skid tank," he said in a statement today.
Azman added that two of the four suspects were believed to be workers at the illegal mining site. Authorities had tracked a Hino tanker lorry transporting diesel into the unlicensed mining area earlier.
The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 for offences related to the unauthorised storage and distribution of controlled goods.
