KANGAR, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- The Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail said all parties, especially government machinery in administration and education, must plan and implement activities to cultivate the culture and appreciation of the Quran at all levels of society.
His Royal Highness expressed confidence that prioritising the Quran would lead Perlis towards a civilisation blessed by Allah, as Quranic knowledge remains progressive and evolves in line with current developments.
“Religious agencies, mosques and schools must play an active role in promoting the learning and appreciation of the Quran. Through this collaboration, we can ensure that Quranic education is provided systematically and comprehensively to all levels of society.
“Community programmes focusing on Quranic learning and appreciation must be strengthened. Activities such as tadarus (Quranic recitation), tafsir (interpretation) classes and religious lectures must be intensified and expanded.
“This way, we can strengthen the faith and piety of society while fostering ummah unity,” he said when officiating the closing ceremony and prize presentation of the Perlis-level Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly 2025 here last night.
Raja Perempuan Perlis Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid, Raja Muda Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and Raja Puan Muda Perlis Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil also graced the event.
Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin said these efforts require financial support and urged the authorities to allocate sufficient funding to ensure the agenda’s success.
“I hope all parties remain attentive to this matter to nurture an outstanding generation of Muslims in Perlis and the nation, guided by the Quran and Sunnah,” he said.
The Ruler also called on Muslims in the state to uphold the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by regularly reading, memorising, learning, understanding and applying Quranic teachings in daily life to make it an integral part of the Perlis community.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Anas Abdul Hadi was crowned champion qari (male reciter), while Siti Aishah Md Arif emerged as champion qariah (female reciter) in the state-level tilawah competition.
