FCOEE'S PPITM EMPOWERS ASNAF CHILDREN TO BE MORE COMPETITIVE, SELF-RELIANT

KANGAR, March 8 (Bernama) -- Since its introduction in 2023, the Pemangkin Pembangunan Insan Terpilih MADANI (PPITM) programme, organised by the Faizuddin Centre of Educational Excellence (FCoEE), has served as a platform for shaping the character and identity of asnaf (those eligible to receive zakat or tithe) children, empowering them to become more competitive and self-reliant.

FCoEE executive director Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Kamarudin Hussin said the programme aims to help students from asnaf families in Perlis transition from being zakat recipients to future zakat contributors.

“PPITM has provided opportunities for FCoEE and all those involved to engage with selected families and understand their challenges. FCoEE plays a key role in supporting MAIPs (Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council), a stakeholder committed to enhancing the community’s quality of life through education.

“This programme is a testament to the belief that education and the pursuit of success are not just privileges but responsibilities,” he said during the PPITM 2025 contribution presentation yesterday.

A total of 43 primary and secondary school students from 42 schools in Perlis participating in the programme received contributions under PPITM. The event also featured the presentation of the Anugerah Ikon PPITM to two outstanding students.

Kamarudin said PPITM aims to inspire underprivileged children, encouraging them to view poverty not as a barrier but as a stepping stone to success.

“We want to instil in them the belief that poverty is not an excuse for failure but a challenge to overcome. As an institution dedicated to educational excellence, FCoEE is proud to support this initiative.

“We believe that success is not achieved alone but through the collective efforts of dedicated teachers, supportive parents who make sacrifices, and a caring community,” he said.
