COPENHAGEN, March 10 (Bernama-dpa) -- Hours before Greenland goes to the polls, US President Donald Trump once again outlined his aims for the autonomous Danish territory to become part of the United States, reported German news agency (dpa).
"We are ready to invest billions of dollars to create new jobs and make you rich – And, if you so choose, we welcome you to be a part of the Greatest Nation anywhere in the World, the United States of America!" Trump posted on Truth Social late on Sunday.
Trump ally Elon Musk shared the post on his own platform, X, making it more widely available.
Ulrik Pram Gad of the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS) predicted that the post would not have a major effect on the outcome of the Arctic island's legislative election.
"I'm quite sure that the vast majority of Greenland voters have already become aware of Trump's interest and have taken a view on it," he said.
