KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- The involvement of the private sector, through various creative initiatives, is seen as crucial in supporting the success of the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign and strengthening the country’s position as a world-class tourism destination.
Tourism Malaysia director-general Mohd Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim said that private sector support plays a complementary role to the government’s efforts in expanding the reach of Malaysia’s tourism promotion internationally.
“Commitments such as this are important to ensure that the national agenda can be driven collectively by both the government and the private sector, thereby helping to boost the national economy and benefit local communities,” he said.
He said this to reporters after attending the launch of the VM2026 special edition gold coin by SMS DEEN Jewellers, here, today, which was officiated by Tourism Malaysia chairman Datuk Manoharan Periasamy.
Mohd Amirul Rizal said Tourism Malaysia welcomes more private companies to come forward in support of the VM2026 campaign, through creative and innovative initiatives which showcase Malaysia’s identity and uniqueness.
Meanwhile, SMS DEEN Jewellers chief executive officer Mohamad Shaifudeen said the private sector’s involvement in the campaign reflects a shared responsibility to promote Malaysia on the global stage.
He added that the design of the special edition gold coin, launched today, incorporates storytelling elements which highlight Malaysia’s cultural heritage, cuisine, arts, infrastructure and biodiversity, serving as a medium to introduce the country to tourists.
The special edition gold coin is made of pure 999.9 (24-carat) gold, weighs 0.2 grammes and is offered in a limited edition.
The VM2026 campaign is envisioned as a catalyst for the growth of the country’s tourism sector and economy, with the involvement of various stakeholders, including government agencies, industry players and local communities.
