KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended his greetings to all leaders and delegates attending the 2025 UMNO General Assembly, which begins today and runs until Saturday.

Anwar, who is Pakatan Harapan chairman, also expressed hope that the UMNO assembly would proceed in an orderly manner, feature substantive, people-focused discourse, and contribute to strengthening national unity in line with the Malaysia MADANI vision.

He said Malaysia needs mature politics grounded in consensus, mutual respect and the ability to work together for stability, prosperity and a more just and inclusive future.

“Amid increasingly challenging political and economic landscapes, true strength does not come from perpetuating differences, but from reinforcing unity, celebrating wisdom and sharing a collective commitment to prioritising the interests of the people and the nation,” he posted on Facebook today.

In the post, Anwar also shared a photo of himself attending the UMNO General Assembly in 2023.

The UMNO General Assembly 2025 is being held from Jan 14 to 17 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL), after being postponed twice in August and November last year to allow the party to focus on preparations for the 17th Sabah state election.

The assembly brings together 6,412 delegates nationwide, comprising 2,928 delegates for the UMNO General Assembly, 1,165 for the Wanita UMNO General Assembly, 1,173 for the UMNO Youth General Assembly and 1,146 for the Puteri UMNO General Assembly.
