KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 17 (Bernama) -- DPMM FC got their 2025/2026 Malaysia Cup campaign off to a good start with a 2-0 win against Kelantan Red Warriors FC in the first leg of the round of 16 match at Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, Kota Bharu tonight.
The visitors went 1-0 in the 30th minute through striker Muhammad Ramadhan Sananta’s goal and managed to extend their lead through substitute Muhammad Syafig Ahmad’s goal in injury time of the second half. The teams will play the second leg in Brunei on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Sabah FC drew 2-2 with Melaka FC at Hang Jebat Stadium, Krubong, Melaka.
Melaka managed to take an early lead when Muhammad Shahrel Fikri Md Fauzi scored in the third minute but Sabah rallied to equalise in the 14th minute through Adjin Mujagic, who pounced on a rebound from Melaka goalkeeper Muhammad Haziq Aiman Mohd Esa.
Melaka then took the lead again through midfielder Kwangil Pak but were down to ten men when striker Dino Kalesic was sent off in the 44th minute after picking up his second yellow card.
Sabah made the most of the one-man advantage and equalised again in the 88th minute through Fergus again to force the draw.
Finally, Imigresen FC and Negeri Sembilan FC fought to a goaless draw at Penang State Stadium.
