BANGI, Jan 29 (Bernama) -- Food and support services company Desatera Sdn Bhd is currently developing a major expansion initiative, and the new business direction should be revealed by June this year, said chief executive officer Datuk Feizal Nor Nurbi.
Feizal said several strong proposals were already in the pipeline as the food and support services company looks to widen its core business.
“There’s something that we’re currently cooking. I think if you ask us again somewhere in June, we should be able to give you more details,” he said at the preview of the Nostalgia Ramadan @ Randau Rasa Bangi event here today.
Feizal shared that Desatera, a key contributor to Brahim’s Dewina Group of Companies (Brahim’s) alongside Brahim’s Airline Catering and Brahim’s Food Services, has historically focused on food service delivery. However, the company now sees potential in integrating food services with food manufacturing.
Desatera Sdn Bhd is one of the core companies under the Brahim’s, specialising in large-scale food services, particularly institutional catering.
The company is known as one of the primary food service providers for the Malaysian Armed Forces, a role it has held for nearly three decades since its pilot project began in 1996.
Regarding the company’s long-standing catering contract with the Malaysian Armed Forces, Feizal said the original agreement expired in April 2023 and has since been renewed on an interim basis.
“The interim (contract) will expire in June 2026,” he elaborated.
Earlier this month, Brahim’s executive chairman, Datuk Seri Ibrahim Ahmad, said the company plans to expand its in-flight catering kitchen at Penang International Airport this year to meet rising demand from Visit Malaysia 2026.
He said he expects more airlines, particularly from China, to operate flights to Penang next year, which could boost tourist arrivals to the state.
