SHAH ALAM, Feb 6 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) has set up a secretariat comprising its personnel to facilitate the effective and structured implementation and coordination of the Special Coordinating Committee on Electronic Waste.
Port Klang AKPS commander Datuk Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the committee will undertake a comprehensive study on e-waste issues, particularly those related to entry, management and enforcement at the national level.
The committee chairman said among the key areas to be examined are the e-waste ecosystem, existing laws and procedures, enforcement aspects, identification of stakeholders, as well as disposal mechanisms.
“In this regard, the secretariat will formally seek feedback from relevant agencies and ministries.
“A subsequent coordination meeting will be convened to appoint committee members, as well as to coordinate and refine the feedback received towards determining a clearer direction for more effective and integrity-driven e-waste management and enforcement,” he said in a statement today.
