NO PLACE IN PKR FOR MEMBERS WHO REFUSE TO WORK AND ONLY COMPLAIN - ANWAR

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7  (Bernama) -- There is no place in Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) for members who refuse to work and instead choose to sulk and complain to the point of neglecting their mandate to strengthen the party and advance its struggle, said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The PKR president stressed that the mandate entrusted by the people to the party leadership, whether at the federal or state level, is not a licence to boast about positions or titles, but a responsibility to work diligently for the people and the country.

“If you are not willing to work, please step down. This party still has much work to do. We cannot afford to waste time entertaining unconstructive complaints,” he said in his speech at the Selangor PKR Convention 2026 in Gombak, near here, today.

The Prime Minister also warned PKR members against adopting a half-hearted approach to their responsibilities, stressing that a culture of excessive complaining without action would only weaken the party.

“Working half-heartedly, whining here and there, endless complaints...that is not constructive, gets us nowhere. This is not the place.

“If you truly want to fight, you must move forward in the spirit of PKR, moving ahead and breaking barriers. That is our spirit. That is the only path to real change,” he added.

Anwar said PKR needs members who are prepared to step forward with a clear and firm spirit of struggle, in line with the party’s principles of delivering meaningful change to the country.

He said political struggle is never free from tests and challenges, but PKR members must remain disciplined and focused on strengthening unity while rejecting politics rooted in racial and religious division.

He reiterated that PKR has chosen the Federal Constitution as the foundation of its struggle and believes the country can only be secure if the collective strength of the people is embraced, regardless of race or background.

“In our ranks, there are Malays, Chinese and Indians. That is our strength. PKR was not built on narrow racial sentiments, but on the principles of justice and unity,” he said.

Anwar also called on the entire party machinery, including at the branch and division levels, to stand united in defending rights and truth, and to ensure PKR continues to remain a multi-racial party that champions the interests of all Malaysians.

The one-day convention was also attended by several PKR leaders, including deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar, vice-presidents Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and Datuk Seri R. Ramanan, as well as secretary-general Datuk Fuziah Saleh.
