SHAH ALAM, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- Gamalux Oils Sdn Bhd, in collaboration with Majlis Bandaraya Diraja Klang (MBDK), organised a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) beach clean-up programme at Tanjung Harapan, Port Klang today.

Gamalux Oils, in a statement, said that the CSR programme forms part of the company's ongoing commitment to support environmental sustainability, in line with responsible business practices and efforts to maintain a balance between industrial development and environmental conservation.

It said the initiative was also aimed at raising community awareness on the importance of preserving coastal ecosystems, particularly public areas that are often exposed to solid waste pollution.

“The activity, which commenced at 8 am and concluded at 11.30 am, was attended by approximately 20 participants, comprising staff from Gamalux Oils Sdn Bhd and MBDK. It began with a light warm-up exercise session to ensure participants’ safety and readiness, followed by nearly two hours of waste collection activities along the coastal area.

“As a result of this joint effort, various types of waste along the coast were collected and properly managed, contributing to improved cleanliness of the area and reducing potential risks of pollution to the marine ecosystem and the surrounding environment,” read the statement.

According to Gamalux Oils, although the initiative was implemented on a modest scale, it carries a strong message that small but consistent actions can lead to more meaningful and lasting change in environmental conservation efforts.

It further noted that the CSR programme also reflects the company’s belief that active employee participation in community initiatives helps foster a stronger culture of social responsibility.

“Gamalux Oils Sdn Bhd hopes that initiatives like this will encourage broader participation from various stakeholders, including industry players, local authorities and the surrounding community to collectively play a role in safeguarding the cleanliness and sustainability of public areas,” it said.

Gamalux Oils also extends its appreciation and sincere gratitude to MBDK for its support and close cooperation throughout the implementation of the programme, which is hoped to pave the way for more joint CSR initiatives in the future for the benefit of the community, the environment and future generations.
