KANGAR, Feb 9 (Bernama) -- The organisation of the MADANI Rahmah Sales Programme (PJRM) by the Perlis Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Office throughout last year recorded RM3.4 million in expenditure savings for consumers.

Perlis KPDN Director Rohaida Hassan said that PJRM, which offers daily necessities at prices 10 to 30 percent lower than the market rate, benefited 170,000 consumers in 2025. She noted that the department conducted 486 PJRM sessions in the state last year, with the vast majority - 397 sessions - being mobile sales at various locations, while the rest were held within premises like shops or at outdoor venues.

In addition to outdoor events, "Premium PJRM" sessions were also organised at selected locations in Perlis during festive seasons.

Rohaida said the department frequently holds PJRM sessions in areas far from the city, such as Titi Tinggi and Wang Kelian near Padang Besar, to ensure residents in those areas have access to affordable essential goods.

She shared that consumers often provide positive feedback, stating that PJRM is a worthwhile initiative for obtaining necessities at low prices, effectively helping them manage their cost of living.

According to Rohaida, the primary items sought after by consumers at these sales include polybag cooking oil, rice, eggs, wheat flour, bottled cooking oil (2kg and 5kg), onions, dishwashing and laundry detergents.

Regarding this year's plans, she stated that Perlis KPDN aims to organise at least 540 sales sessions at various locations.

This aligns with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's previous announcement that the sales programme would be held three times a month in every State Legislative Assembly (DUN) constituency nationwide.

She expects the final number to exceed 540, as it does not yet include additional requests from the Federal Village Development and Security Committee (JPKKP) and other government departments.

Meanwhile, Rohaida invited the public to visit the Premium PJRM organised by Perlis KPDN at the square next to the Seri Putra Complex this coming Saturday, February 14, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Held in conjunction with Chinese New Year and preparations for Ramadan, the programme will feature a wide range of fresh and dry goods to help consumers purchase their necessities at affordable prices.
