JAKIM COORDINATES OPS IHSAN 2.0 TO IMPROVE RELIEF DELIVERY

BANGI, Feb 11 (Bernama) -- The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) is coordinating the implementation of Ops Ihsan 2.0, which involves nearly 20 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to ensure more organised and impactful delivery of humanitarian aid.

JAKIM director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee said the approach aims to prevent duplication of assistance previously carried out by individual NGOs.

He said that last year, JAKIM organised 30 programmes with corporate partners and selected companies that contributed through zakat wakalah initiatives or CSR (corporate social responsibility) efforts.

“This year, I am confident that more initiatives will be carried out by JAKIM in collaboration with corporate partners to strengthen dakwah (propagation of Islam) programmes so that Islam continues to flourish in Malaysia, Insya-Allah,” he said here, today.

He spoke to reporters after attending a Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) engagement session with the JAKIM Corporate Dakwah Secretariat (SDK), a platform that gathers NGOs under one banner, the Jalur Gemilang, to implement humanitarian aid activities both domestically and abroad.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Dr Zulkifli Hasan, officiated the session.

Sirajuddin said the session marked the first such gathering organised this year and the 26th held under SDK, a unit under the department’s Dakwah Division that engages the corporate sector in implementing dakwah programmes nationwide.

He said more than 20 corporate organisations, among them were Lembaga Tabung Haji, the Employees Provident Fund, Permodalan Nasional Bhd, CIMB Islamic Bank, DRB-Hicom and Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad.
