BERKELEY (California), Feb 21 (Bernama-dpa) -- United States (US) actor Eric Dane addressed his two daughters with touching words in an interview for a Netflix documentary series, just a few months before his death, German Press Agency (dpa) reported.

The streaming service released the almost hour-long episode featuring Dane's Famous Last Words on Friday – one day after the star of the TV series Grey's Anatomy died.

In April 2025, Dane announced that he had been diagnosed with the incurable neurological disease ALS. He was 53 years old.

Dane's conversation was recorded in November for the Netflix series, which features interviews with notable figures that are released only posthumously, allowing them to share their message after death.

The actor sits in a wheelchair and talks about his life in a hoarse voice. He addresses moving words to his daughters Billie (15) and Georgia (14) from his marriage to actress Rebecca Gayheart.

Dane reminisces about holidays and experiences together and shares life lessons he has learnt through the illness.

The two teenage girls should "live now. Right now. In the present," and enjoy every moment, their father advises them. They should discover their love for something that awakens their passion and brings them joy. For him, that was acting.

His final piece of advice to his daughters is to "fight with every ounce of your being, and with dignity. When you face challenges, health or otherwise, fight. Never give up. Fight until your last breath."

ALS may have slowly destroyed his body, but it never destroyed his spirit, he said. "Billie and Georgia, you are my heart. You are my everything. Good night. I love you. Those are my last words."

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a disease that affects the central and peripheral nervous system. Nerves are destroyed, resulting in swallowing, breathing and speech disorders, muscle atrophy, and paralysis, which ultimately lead to death.
