EFFORTS INTENSIFY TO DRAW REGIONAL AND LOCAL STARTUPS TO CYBERJAYA -- CYBERVIEW

CYBERJAYA, March 4 (Bernama) — Cyberview Sdn Bhd will continue to intensify efforts to attract foreign investors to Cyberjaya by expanding the existing technology ecosystem and focusing on local and regional startups.

As master developer and custodian of Cyberjaya’s development, chief executive officer Kamarul Ariffin Abdul Samad said several property projects are expected to be launched this year to continue the city’s physical development.

He said “placemaking” initiatives will also be stepped up to enhance the city’s vibrancy to support Cyberjaya’s development as a technology city that functions as an innovation centre and a suitable place to live and work.

“For many years, we focused on enabling the ecosystem by attracting companies, supporting innovation and fostering collaboration.

“Today, our role is expanding. We are strengthening our position as a property developer. In the pipeline are liveability-driven developments and complementary components to support a vibrant city to live, work, innovate and play in,” he said at a breaking-of-fast and media appreciation event organised by Cyberview yesterday.

This step is important because a global technology hub is not defined by the presence of offices and infrastructure, but also by the strength of its community, talent pool and quality of life. It is these factors that attract and retain investors and highly skilled workers, he said.

Kamarul Ariffin also said Cyberjaya remains well-positioned to emerge as Southeast Asia's key gateway for technology investments despite global geopolitical uncertainties, which are expected to continue influencing global investment sentiment this year.

According to him, the city's ecosystem foundation, developed consistently thus far, is believed to be attractive to international technology companies seeking stable and strategic investment locations.

He said conflicts in several other regions have indirectly made Southeast Asia a more stable destination for investment, with Malaysia competitively positioned to attract global companies.

“Southeast Asia, in my view, is the best region for investors at this time. We hope this interest will continue in view of conflicts in other regions,” he said.

Cyberview also honoured media practitioners who supported Cyberjaya’s development agenda.

It also handed over RM9,000 in zakat wakalah to assist media practitioners facing health challenges.

Cyberview has the government's mandate to spearhead Cyberjaya to build Malaysia's global tech hub that offers a holistic ecosystem for its technology community.

Cyberjaya became the first Malaysian city to receive a gold under the newly introduced Smart Township 2025 Certificate of Recognition last November under the Housing and Local Government Ministry's Malaysia Smart City Rating Programme.
