DHAKA, March 4 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines announced on Tuesday an indefinite suspension of operations on six routes due to the prevailing security situation in the Middle East, reported Xinhua.

The affected routes include Dammam, Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Kuwait, said the airline in a notice.

"We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as circumstances evolve," said the Biman notice.

Following the recent escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, the authorities at Bangladesh's main Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka reported that a total of 147 flights to the region had been cancelled as of Tuesday.
