BAGHDAD, March 10 (Bernama-QNA) -- Iraq on Tuesday extended the closure of its airspace to all arriving, departing and transit flights for an additional 72 hours, starting from midday, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported citing the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority.

The authority said in a statement that the decision was taken as a temporary precautionary measure based on the continued assessment of the security situation and evolving regional developments.

It added that the closure would remain under continuous review, noting that the decision would be reassessed in line with developments on the ground.

Airlines and relevant authorities will be notified of any further updates.

The move comes as part of a series of measures adopted by Iraqi authorities to close the country's airspace amid escalating regional tensions linked to the ongoing conflict between the United States and Israel with Iran.
