PUTRAJAYA, March 12 (Bernama) -- Five polytechnics have been recognised as Certified Learning Centres by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) on Feb 24 to implement the ‘Sijil Perakuan Hafazan Bertahap’ (SPHB) under the Tekno-Huffaz programme initiative.

Polytechnic and Community College Education Department (POLYCC) director-general Dr Shamsuri Abdullah said the recognition reflects POLYCC’s commitment to integrating technical excellence with the mastery of religious knowledge in student development.

“Polytechnic and Community College institutions remain committed not only to producing highly skilled graduates, but also to emphasising the cultivation of values, moral conduct and exemplary character among the POLYCC community,” he said when speaking at a programme held in conjunction with Ramadan and the JPPKK breaking of fast event here today.

The five polytechnics are Politeknik Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin in Terengganu, Politeknik Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah in Pahang, Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah in Perak, as well as Politeknik Port Dickson and Politeknik Nilai in Negeri Sembilan.

Shamsuri said POLYCC is also actively implementing various strategic initiatives to realise the government’s aspirations.

These include efforts to upgrade 10 Premier Polytechnics by 2036, expand the offering of Bachelor’s Degree programmes to meet the needs of the country’s Electrical and Electronics (E&E) sector, and undertake impact studies and future direction planning for community colleges.
