BERLIN, March 17 (Bernama-dpa) -- Internet video platform YouTube and football's world governing body FIFA announced a strategic partnership on Tuesday for the men's World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, reported German Press Agency (dpa).

YouTube becomes an official "preferred platform" for June and July's tournament and traditional broadcast partners will be able to stream the first 10 minutes of games and some complete matches on YouTube.

FIFA secretary general Mattias Grafström said in a YouTube blog post: "This collaboration with YouTube reinforces our ambition to maximise the tournament’s impact across the ever-evolving media landscape, offering fans everywhere easy access to an immersive view of the biggest single-sport event in history."

FIFA is also further unlocking content from its digital archive on FIFA’s official YouTube channel, including full length historical matches.
