SINGAPORE, April 9 (Bernama) -- Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will make a three-day official visit to Singapore from April 9, according to Singapore’s Foreign Affairs Ministry (MFA).

In a statement on Thursday, the MFA said Albanese will visit the Singapore LNG Terminal and the Singapore Refining Company on Jurong Island during his trip.

"Albanese’s visit reaffirms the excellent state of bilateral relations underpinned by the Singapore-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) 2.0," the statement read.

During the visit, Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, who is also the Finance Minister, will meet Albanese and host him for lunch.

The visit also coincides with both countries’ commitment to strengthening energy security and maintaining open trade flows amid ongoing conflicts in West Asia.

Albanese’s office, in a statement on Tuesday, said the leaders will continue discussions on securing trade in essential supplies, including petroleum oils such as diesel, and liquefied natural gas.

“The visit will continue the government’s regional engagements to keep fuel supply flowing by strengthening fuel access for Australia,” it said.

Australia and Singapore share a strong energy trade relationship.

Australia is Singapore’s second-largest supplier of liquefied natural gas, while Singapore is Australia’s largest supplier of refined petroleum products.

Singapore is also Australia’s largest two-way trade partner and investor in Southeast Asia.
