IPOH, April 27 (Bernama) -- Teluk Intan MP Nga Kor Ming has allocated RM251,000 in financial aid to 256 high-achieving Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2025 students in the constituency.
Nga, who is also Housing and Local Government Minister, said the initiative aims to ease the financial burden on students and their families as they pursue higher education at public and private institutions.
“The MADANI government remains committed to supporting students and motivating them to continue striving for excellence. Education is the foundation of national development, and today’s youth will one day become the country’s leaders,” he said in a statement today.
He also urged young people to continue seeking knowledge, uphold good values, and safeguard unity and harmony in Malaysia’s multiracial society.
The aid presentation ceremony was held at Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan San Min in Teluk Intan today, attended by Perak executive councillor Woo Kah Leong, who is also Pasir Bedamar assemblyman.
A total of RM125,000 was distributed to 67 students, with RM3,000 awarded to four students who obtained 11As, RM2,000 to 27 students with 10As, and RM1,500 to 36 students who scored 9As.
An additional RM500 Progress Award was given to 10 students who showed significant improvement in last year’s SPM.
Nga said the assistance is part of an initiative by the Teluk Intan DAP Service Centre, now in its fourth consecutive year since 2023.
In a separate event, he distributed RM111,600 to 179 other students in the constituency, while RM1,200 each was awarded to 12 selected teachers in recognition of their role in students’ success.
