KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 (Bernama) -- McDonald’s Malaysia is marking the 10th year of its nationwide Teachers’ Day initiative this year, continuing its longstanding effort to recognise educators for their role in shaping future generations and contributing to nation-building.

In conjunction with Teachers’ Day on May 16, the company will mobilise more than 300 restaurants nationwide throughout May to engage nearby schools and celebrate teachers through community-based appreciation activities.

The campaign is expected to benefit hundreds of schools and thousands of educators across the country, reinforcing McDonald’s Malaysia’s role as a community partner that goes beyond serving customers to actively supporting the communities it operates in.

Managing Director and Local Operating Partner of McDonald’s Malaysia, Datuk Azmir Jaafar, said teachers play a fundamental role in shaping individuals and strengthening communities, with an impact that extends well beyond the classroom.

“For ten remarkable years, our Teachers’ Day initiative has grown into a nationwide effort that allows us to engage schools directly and deliver appreciation where it matters most. We believe it is our collective responsibility to ensure these pivotal figures feel truly valued and celebrated,” he said in a statement today.

The campaign began earlier this month with local activations in Penang before being expanded nationwide.

The initiative will culminate in a main celebration at McDonald's Titiwangsa Drive-Thru involving educators from nearby schools in recognition of their dedication and commitment.

As part of the initiative, McDonald’s Malaysia will also provide cash contributions to support the refurbishment and enhancement of staffroom facilities.

Since its inception in 2017, the Teachers’ Day initiative has become a key component of Program Komuniti @ McDonald’s, which carries out more than 10,000 community activities annually, including efforts to support families in need as well as recognise frontliners and educators.
