METMALAYSIA: THUNDERSTORMS, HEAVY RAIN IN NEARLY ALL STATES UNTIL 7 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, May 12 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds expected to affect nearly all states nationwide until 7 pm today.

MetMalaysia, in a statement, said the warning covers the entire Kelantan and Johor, as well as the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Labuan.

Other affected areas include Kedah (Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu) and Perak (Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim).

Similar weather conditions are forecast in Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman) and Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan and Rompin).

The warning also covers Selangor (Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat) and Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Jempol and Tampin).

In Sarawak, the affected areas are expected to include Kuching, Betong (Saratok and Kabong), Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu (Tatau), Miri (Subis and Beluru) and Limbang.

In Sabah, the warning involves the interior areas (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Keningau and Tambunan); the west coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran) as well as Sandakan (Kinabatangan and Sandakan).
