KUALA LUMPUR, May 14 (Bernama) -- Young people are encouraged to be bold in exploring the digital economy and future technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), to remain competitive in an increasingly challenging and complex world, said Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
The Bandar Tun Razak MP said mastery of innovation and technology is essential for the younger generation to adapt to current labour market changes.
“The youth of today must be brave to step forward in areas such as the digital economy, entrepreneurship, social innovation, community leadership and future technologies.
“The country needs young people who not only have knowledge and skills, but also values, morals and a spirit of patriotism,” she said when officiating at the Semarak Belia @ National Youth Day (SB @ HBN) 2026 programme for the Cheras and Bandar Tun Razak areas here today.
Also present were Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Youth and Sports Department director Sabran Abdil Bahar and the Prime Minister’s political secretary Datuk Azman Abidin.
Dr Wan Azizah, who is the Prime Minister’s wife, said that despite various global issues such as the rising cost of living and mental health challenges, Malaysian youth have strong resilience and creativity to find solutions to these problems.
She said the government, through various initiatives, will continue to focus on youth development, particularly in entrepreneurship and leadership, to produce a progressive younger generation.
“Use your energy, ideas and potential to bring benefits to religion, race and country,” she said, citing a hadith of the Prophet Muhammad on the importance of making use of youth before old age.
Dr Wan Azizah hopes that young people will become agents of unity, maturity and integrity in shaping the future of Malaysia MADANI.
Today’s SB @ HBN 2026 programme involved about 500 participants and aimed to provide a platform for youth to enhance leadership skills and build strategic networks within local communities.
