PUTRAJAYA, May 15 (Bernama) -- Heart disease has been identified as the cause of death for a policeman who died after a marching drill at the Sepang District Police Headquarters (IPD) in Selangor on Wednesday.
Sepang Police Chief ACP Norhizam Bahaman, in a statement today, said the finding followed a post-mortem conducted on Corporal Khairil Idzhar Rodzi, 37, at the Sultan Idris Shah Hospital in Serdang.
"A detailed explanation of the findings was provided face-to-face by a forensic pathologist to the deceased's family members.
"The remains were buried at the Masjid Mahmudiah Muslim Cemetery in Bukit Keteri, Perlis, at 11 am yesterday," he said.
Norhizam said a permanent investigative committee has been set up to conduct further investigations in accordance with standard operating procedures.
He said the investigation will be conducted professionally and transparently, with all aspects to be examined, especially following claims of foul play.
"The public is advised not to spread unverified speculation to safeguard the welfare and respect the sensitivities of the deceased's family. The entire Sepang IPD workforce extends its deepest condolences to the family for their loss," he added.
Yesterday, Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar confirmed the death of Khairil Idzhar, who was attached to the Dato’ Abu Bakar Baginda Police Station and had served in the Royal Malaysia Police for 17 years.
