NEGERI SEMBILAN PH WARNS AGAINST BETRAYAL, SAYS COALITION READY FOR STATE POLLS ANYTIME

JOHOR BAHRU, May 17 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan Pakatan Harapan (PH) has warned its political partners against betraying the trust placed in them, while stressing that the coalition is prepared to face a state election at any time.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the actions of certain parties in making unilateral decisions without going through the consensus process had disappointed the state PH leadership.

He said PH had previously demonstrated its commitment to political cooperation by handing over seats it had won to be contested by coalition partners, only for that trust to allegedly be betrayed.

“This was our sign of respect towards them. We handed over a state seat that we had won for them to contest, and they won, but suddenly they betrayed us. This lesson is very meaningful for us,” he said when speaking at the 2026 PH Convention at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre today.

Despite the situation, Aminuddin said the Negeri Sembilan PH would continue to uphold party discipline and comply with decisions made by the coalition’s top leadership to ensure the stability of the Unity Government.

He said the Negeri Sembilan PH had consistently prioritised political stability but did not rule out the possibility of facing an early state election should circumstances require it.

“We have always prioritised political stability, but when the ‘ship’ is rocked, we naturally feel disappointed. We also have feelings. Today is our stage, and we are always ready to face the next election at any time,” he said.

Meanwhile, PKR vice-president Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said PH is on the right track to secure a stronger mandate for a second term in government, despite some of its policies being perceived as unpopular.

He said measures such as targeted subsidies were difficult but responsible decisions, with the resulting savings being channelled back to the people through initiatives such as the Rahmah Basic Contribution (SAR) and the Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR).

The 2026 PH Convention, themed “Tekad MADANI, Harapan Rakyat”, brought together about 5,000 delegates and leaders from across the country, with Prime Minister and PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim scheduled to deliver the keynote address later in the afternoon.
