MELAKA, May 17 (Bernama) -- A total of 3,664 public complaints involving various issues were received through the Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat (WRUR) programme across 15 state constituencies in Melaka.

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said 2,474 complaints had been resolved, while the remaining cases were being addressed by the relevant agencies.

He said the achievement reflected the effectiveness of the WRUR programme in focusing on action and resolving issues faced by the people.

“In today’s administration, I always remind every elected representative, department and related agency to take immediate action on every complaint received for the sake of the people.

“Never underestimate the people’s grievances, never wait for an issue to go viral before taking action, and never wait for public anger before going to the ground,” he said when officiating the WRUR Programme for the Kota Melaka parliamentary constituency here today.

Also present was Kota Laksamana assemblyman and State Rural Development, Agriculture and Food Security Committee deputy chairman Low Chee Leong.

Ab Rauf said the people’s voices should not only be heard, but should also serve as a guide in shaping government policies, actions and decisions.

Meanwhile, he said the WRUR programme, now in its 16th series, has been implemented consistently since last year regardless of whether it is election season, as efforts to safeguard the welfare and needs of the people must continue.

He said the Kota Melaka parliamentary constituency series began in the Kota Laksamana state constituency from May 17 to 23, before continuing in Banda Hilir from May 31 to June 6, Kesidang from June 7 to 13 and ending in Telok Mas from June 14 to 20.
