KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 (Bernama) -- Two homegrown food chains, The Manhattan Fish Market (MFM) and US Pizza, earned recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) at the Franchise International Malaysia (FIM) 2026 exhibition here today.

The recognition was awarded by chief executive officer of MBOR Christopher Wong to MFM for being the longest-serving halal seafood restaurant chain and to US Pizza Malaysia for having the most halal-certified local pizza outlets.

The historic ceremony was witnessed by Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Steven Sim, Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA) chairman Datuk Dr Radzali Hassan and Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (PERNAS) chairman Datuk Mohamed Rozhan Mohd Ghazalli.

MFM chief executive officer Deric Yeo said the recognition reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to upholding halal standards and serving the community with confidence.

“It has been 17 years since we got the halal certification and this is the time that we actually continue to serve the community through halal-compliant practices and processes,” he told reporters after the cocktail reception held in conjunction with the FIM 2026.

Yeo, who is also the US Pizza Group chief operating officer said both local brands would continue to expand their presence in the local and international markets.

He said that MFM was currently operating in several overseas markets, including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Jordan and Myanmar.

On expansion plans, Yeo said the group had recently opened a new MFM outlet at Lotus’s Kepong while the next outlets were scheduled to open at Tanjung Tokong, Penang, and Lotus’s Ampang in about three weeks.

He said that the group had also recently expanded into Empire City and LSH33, Sentul, as part of its ongoing brand growth initiatives.

“For US Pizza, we continue to do our best to serve, to be at more locations, and to reach out to more places to serve the community,” he added.

Yeo said that US Pizza has grown to nearly 100 outlets across Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.
