KUALA LUMPUR, June 7 (Bernama) -- Traffic flow on several major highways was slow tonight, while a fatal motorcycle accident was also reported on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) northbound from Bandar Baharu towards Jawi.
A spokesperson for the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) said the accident, which occurred at about 6.30 pm at Kilometre 171.3, resulted in the emergency lane being blocked, causing slow-moving traffic at the location.
“For other northbound routes, traffic is also slow from Perai towards Juru, while southbound traffic is slow-moving from Simpang Renggam to Sedenak as well as in the Kulai area,” the spokesperson said when contacted by Bernama tonight.
He said on the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway, traffic is slow in the Lentang area heading towards Bukit Tinggi and from the Gombak Toll Plaza towards the capital.
Meanwhile, traffic flow on the East Coast Expressway (LPT) 1 and LPT 2 remained smooth and under control as of 8 pm.
LLM expects the number of vehicles on major highways to continue increasing towards midnight following the start of the school session and as people return to work tomorrow.
Highway users are advised to ensure sufficient balance in their Touch ‘n Go cards or e-wallets to facilitate smoother movement at toll plazas, check their vehicle condition, including tyre pressure, and are encouraged to stop at the rest and service areas (R&R) if they feel tired or sleepy.
