MAN ARRESTED, YABA PILLS WORTH RM10,700 SEIZED IN TANAH MERAH

KOTA BHARU, June 22 (Bernama) -- Police arrested a man yesterday after discovering 1,070 yaba pills worth RM10,700 during checks at Jalan Kampung Paloh Bukit Panau, Tanah Merah.

Tanah Merah police chief Supt Mohd Haki Hasbullah said personnel from the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department's Patrol Car Unit detained the suspect.

“A subsequent search of the front left passenger footrest uncovered a white strap bag containing several sealed plastic packets of pills suspected to be yaba containing methamphetamine,” he said in a statement today.

Mohd Haki said the seizure involved 1,058 red yaba pills and 12 green pills, with a total estimated weight of 107 grammes, as well as 500 millilitres of ketum water. Police also seized a Perodua Axia car believed to have been used by the suspect.

Mohd Haki added that the suspect was brought to the Tanah Merah district police headquarters for further action. The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
