KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB) has obtained a consent judgment at the Shah Alam High Court against activist Abdul Razak Ismail over online publications concerning the demolition and redevelopment of the Shah Alam Stadium, which the company alleged had caused economic damage.
Judicial Commissioner Shoba Rajah Dorai Rajah, on June 22, recorded the consent order after the first defendant came to a settlement during cross-examination by MRCB’s counsel, Datuk Selva Mookiah.
In 2024, the company sued Abdul Razak and blogger Murray Hunter over a series of posts published on Facebook and Hunter’s Substack platform that questioned the stadium demolition and redevelopment project.
The company alleged that the online publications amounted to economic sabotage and caused damage to MRCB.
Under the terms recorded before the court, Abdul Razak agreed to a permanent injunction restraining him from publishing or republishing the allegations that formed the subject of the suit.
He also undertook to remove all relevant postings within 72 hours, refrain from repeating the allegations, and not conspire with Hunter or any other parties in relation to publishing similar allegations concerning the matter.
When contacted, Selva said MRCB’s action against Hunter, who was believed to have absconded, would continue.
The court has fixed July 10 for submissions by the company in relation to its claim against Hunter, with judgment scheduled for July 17.
