KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 (Bernama) -- The 14th edition of the Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) Premier 7s Rugby Tournament is set to return with a strong line-up of 24 schools, taking place from July 3 to 5 at the MCKK grounds in Kuala Kangsar, Perak.
Tournament director Muhammad Asri Rafa'i said the prestigious event will keep its 24-team structure, consisting of 22 leading school rugby teams from Malaysia and two overseas teams that participated in the previous edition.
“This year, we are maintaining our standard of selecting only the top teams, so the quality of the competition will remain high.
“For example, Sekolah Menengah Presint 11 (1), which became champions in Putrajaya, will represent the Federal Territory for the first time in the tournament," he said at a press conference here today.
Former champions gracing the three-day event include Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jalan Tiga, Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School (SSTMI) from Johor Bahru, and host side MCKK.
Meanwhile, defending champions Pahang Malaysia Sports School (SSMP) will arrive in Kuala Kangsar brimming with confidence after clinching the 2025 title, dethroning SSTMI, the previous champions, in the final.
